8th Mar
We packed again in the morning, had  a quick snack at lunch  before being picked up for the airport for a 9.5 hour flight to Bangkok.Arrived at the Shangi-La at 3.00 am.
9th Mar
Very lazy day spent around the pool followed by cocktails in the club lounge and a Thai meal at our favourite hotel restaurant.
10th Mar
After breakfast we went shopping in the many malls and on our return we lazed by the pool again.Nice not to rush around and just relax.
11th Mar
Another lazy day by the pool, Stuart had a massage. Going for cocktails again in the club lounge and then back to the Thai restaurant for last meal of the holiday.
12th Mar
On our way back today and hope to speak to you when we get back.

5 Mar
After breakfast we went a walk around Sydney circular quay, the Fred Olsen ship Balmoral was in today .In the afternoon met Marion (we met her on the Fiji cruise) and took the ferry to Manly but the weather was bad and we had to abort our walk around Manly very quickly, if it had been nice it would have been very pretty and the beach would have been inviting although there wasw still some surfers.In the evening we went to the Latitude restaurant at the hotel which was extremely good.
6 Mar
Early start this morning 07.15 for coach tour to Hunters Valley .Stopped for coffee break and feeding the kangaroos , then onto wine tasting at Brokenwood winery.We stopped for our lunch and more wines after which we went to our last wine stop at Oakvale winery and even if we had not had enough food and drink we stopped at chocolate factory.On our return we managed drinks and canopes in the hotel club lounge.
7 Mar
N ever to stand still for long , after breakfast went a walk around The Rocks where there was market stalls and then took a city tour for 2 hours after which we took a ferry to Watson Bay, a seaside resort. Their speciality being a seafood platter and fish and chips, although we did not have this it looked extremely good on the table next to us.We returned to Circular Quay Sydney and went on the Captain Cooks sunset dinner cruise where we saw the Queen Mary 2 coming into port and docking at Garden Island because it is to big for Darling Harbour and the Circular Quay.After the dinner cruise we managed to get back to the hotel in time for 40 mins in the club lounge for cocktail time for drinks and canopes.

Hi everybody sorry we have not been in touch but very difficult in Fiji and no way of contacting anybody on the cruise and even in Palm Cove unless we sat on the floor it was equally as bad but we are now in Sydney.
21 Feb
In Fiji now and relaxing around the swimming pool and had a good meal at night outside by the beach.
23 Feb
Packed our little bags for our Captain Cook cruise around the Fiji islands until the 27th Feb which we enjoyed. A little hectic going from one island to another.On one island we visited a school where the children sang to us before showing us around. Certainly mums and dads had no television as they all had 7 or 8 brothers or sisters.On one evening Stuart ( not me as I was ill) went to a village for dinner (lovo feast) where the villagers had a little market to sell shells ,beads, bracelets etc and entertained us with singing after the meal and then returned to the ship for desert.
27 Feb
Left the cruise to return to the hotel before leaving very early next day.
28 Feb
Not good ,wake up call 04.30 for our 05.30 pick up for the airport for a flight to Brisbane where we changed for a flight to Cairns and then transfered to Palm Cove.
1 Mar
A lie in this morning and after a lovely breakfast had a walk around the resort which since 2002 has grown,more shops , hotels and restaurants but very tastefully done.In the afternoon we lazed by the pool and in the evening we had a monsoon with about 3 inches of rain.

We went on the local bus to Cairns and spent the day looking around the place.Went out to a Thai restaurant in the evening
3 Mar
Very humid today so we relaxed around the pool and even went in the pool.
4 Mar
What a surprise this morning we were picked up from the hotel in stretch limo for the airport, but no champagne.Arrived in Sydney at the Shangri-La hotel about 17.30, room overlooks the Sydney Opera house.In the evening met up with Helena and went out to Fish at the Rocks restaurant which was excellant.

Hi everybody
19th Feb
We started out at 8.20 am this morning with a city tour of Dunedin stopping at the signal hill for the views over the city and then to the steepest street in the world which Stuart managed to walk up and get his certificate proving he had managed it.We then travelled up the coast to Moeraki to see the rock boulders and to have the best fish and chips ever and then went further up the coast to Oamaru , very interesting buildings. We stopped at Benmore Dam looking down the valley at Lake Benmore and Lake Waitaki , the views were fantastic.We stopped the night at Lake Tekapo again with marvellous views.
20th Feb
Early start at 8.30 am  , stopped at the lake to see the statue of the sheppard dog and the the little church.On route to Christchurch we stopped at  Geraldine  to see the woollen shop which has the largest jumper in the world and also a copy of the tapestry of King Harold of 1066 which took the guy 25 years to do.In Christchurch we just had time to look round the botanical gardens and taken to yhe highest point as we had early start in the evening with a tram ride around Christchurch with all free drinks and then to a restaurant.
21st Feb
End of our New Zealand tour . left Christchurch for Fiji to the Sofitel. Had a walk around the beach before getting ready for a nice meal.

14th Feb
Went on the Haast river on a jet boat ride and did 360 degree spins.After we stopped at a salmon and trout farm for morning coffee and fresh scones.We had a lovely journey through mountains to Queenstown where we had a marvelous apartment suite and the views from the restaurant overlooked Wakatipu lake.
15th Feb
Away from hotel at 7.55am for our Skippers canyon tour , the old gold miners trail, very narrow tracks with extremely steep drops inches away in a 4 x 4. Afternoon looked around Queenstown.
16th Feb
A lie in this morning until 9.30 am , when we went for our open jet boat ride on a narrow canyon river and then came back to town and went up on the gondala overlooking Queenstown where we saw bungy jumping and luge rides and paragliding.In the evening we had an a la carte meal at the hotel.
17th Feb
Left hotel at 7.30 am to Te Anau where we were stopping the night and travelled to Milford Sound and had 2.hr 30 min cruise around the fiord land , seeing whales and seals with wonderful views of the mountains and glaciers.
18th Feb
We started the day with a short ferry crossing to glow worm caves to see the glow worms and fantastic caves with rushing waterin them.After we travelled to Dunedin scottish heritage. The weather has been a little unkind to us taday , raining.

Feb 8th
Left Auckland at 8.00am to view the highest point called Mt Eden then made our way to the Goldfields railway for 30 min train journey of the Karangahake gorge .We then went to Longlands homestead at Matamata to a working dairy farm and had lovely lamb lunch. We then travelled to the Whakarewarewe village , a maori village with hot geysers and springs and then to our hotel in Rotorua.
Feb 9th
We did the city and lakes tour with the Duck (a vehicle that travelled on land and water) in the afternoon we had walk around the shops and the lake in Rotorua and saw seaplanes and helicopters.
Feb 10th
Early morning start again , visited the Wairakei thermal power station where they generated electricity from  the hot underground water.Visited the Huka falls which was a photography delight and then had 2 hour drive to Napier where we stopped the night.Had time to walk around the city and Hawk's Bay.Dana tell Ian we did not go Mission wines but went next door to Church Road winery where we had wine tasting and dinner.
Feb 11th
Left Napier at 8.00am and visited a lovely car museum and then onto Wellington , and visited the Te Papa museum and on the way to the hotel we stopped at the highest point Mt Victoria which had a 360 degrees view of Wellington.
Feb 12th
Even earlier start today 7.00am . We had a little tour around Wellington before boarding the ferry over to the south island which took 3 hours but we had plenty of free food and drink.When we arrived at Picton we joined another coach to Christchurch stopping enroute to take pictures of seals and even saw a whale.
Feb 13th
Once again an early start to the railway station to board the Tranzalpine to Arthurs pass, magnificent views.Taking place today was the coast to coast contest of 253 kms where they cycled , ran and canoed the way to Christchurch over 12 hours which we saw them  running in the mountains.We also went to see the Franz Josef glacier. Good night another early start.

Hi we are back again bringing you up to date
4 th Feb
Left Auckland 8.00 am and visited Kauri museum which was all about logging of the Kauri trees in the area from the 1840,s until it was stopped early in the 1930,s since they were wiping out all the trees altogether covering over hundreds of square miles., then onto Waipoura forest to see the oldest Kauri tree which is over 2000 years old . We then travelled onto Omapere and had an hours cruise which turned out to be quite dramatic as a boat had  capsized and we had to rescue a husband and wife who had been in the water 30/40 minutes but they were fit and well though a little cold.We then went to  the Copthorne hotel which was on the shoreline where we had an Hangi dinner on the beach.
5th Feb
We drove to the Bay Of Islands where we visited the Waitangi treaty house which was the most visited and historic home due to this being the house where the treaty was signed between the British and the Maori's in 1840 and which is the basis of New Zealand law today.We then went onto Paihia for our lunch and then anoyher cruise to Cape Bret lighthouse and the Hloe in the Rock and was very lucky to see dolphins and their young.
6th Feb
Today we went over to Russell peninsula which was by ferry and took only 10 mins. We had a very interesting 1 hour tour and then visited the Pompallier printery showing how the first books were nade.On the peninsula was private retreat which only cost NZ$ 42000 per night ,could only aford 2 mins ,apparently Bill Gates goes there quite often.Then went to the Waitangi where they were having the celebrations for 170th anniversary of the signing of the treaty.
7th Feb
Easy day today starting 10.00am stopping enroute to Auckland at Whangarei where there was a nice marina and Clapham's clock museum and lunch was at Warkworth carrying on the coastal road to Auckland.Staying 1 night in Auckland at the Langham hotel, early start tomorrow.

Hi kiwis
29th Jan
We took local tram to the Victoria market via the Docklands , market much bigger than Nottingham , you could buy anything there. The meats were to die for and the prices were much chaeper than England. In the afternoon we went to the Eureka sky deck to the 88th floor which gave us wonderful views of Melbourne.
30th Jan
Had to get up at 4.30 am to leave the hotel at 5.30 for the airport to New Zealand , leaving our fantastic suite behind us.In the afternoon we a walk around Auckland.
31 Jan
The Quay West apartments had lovely view over the harbour where we could see the cruise ships coming in.We took a cruise around the harbour and in the evening we went to the harbour side fish restaurant.
1st Feb
We took the ferry to Devenport ,weather a little showery today so took an hours coach tour around which took us to the highest point ,giving us lovely views of beaches and Auckland city.Could not afford to live here since all properties are at least 1 million NZ$ upwards.
2nd Feb
Packed our bags again , now with all clean clothes, to move to the Langham hotel for the start of Scenic tour.After checking in we went to the Sky Tower which had a good view of the city and saw 2 guys jumping from the top sky diving.Met up with fellow travellers for dinner in the evening.
3rd Feb
We were taken in the morning for a little tour to Mission Bay before heading to the ferry port for our trip to Waiheke island.We had 1hour 30 min tour which was very interesting, especially with 35 vineyards on the island,had a sample.Tonight we are treating ourselves to a meal at a restaurant called No 5.

Hi everybody back again, hope you are not yet bored with our trip.
24th Jan
We went to the Adelaide zoo in the morning to see the new pandas from China, nearly left stuart there, but they would not have him. We then made our way to see the Down Under cycle race around the city, which was 20 laps approx. 90kms ,where were you Allen. Had a very exciting finish to the race with the main pack of riders catching 3 who had broken away , by clawing back 35 seconds in 3 laps.Felt exhausted just watching.Went out to a Greek restaurant in the evening.
25th Jan
We left Adelaide today for Melbourne.Its a lot cooler here ,only 31c degrees.Very spoilt a the Crown Towers hotel , large suite , a TV in the sitting room, in the bedroom and even a TV in the bathroom. You could stop in your room all day and if you get bored just go down to the casino or choose 1 of the 16 restaurants to eat in.
26th Jan
Its Australia day today so we watched part of the procession before we went on our trip on the Yarra river cruise before joining the coach that took us around the city and the on to the Dandenongs which are the hills and forest on the outskirts of Melbourne.Up in the hills they took us to the highest point which overlooked the city of Melbourne.We went to the Crystal club for our early evening free drinks and titbits.
27th Jan
Easy day today , aquarium in the morning and looked the shops in the afternoon.In the evening we went to a  restaurant  called No 8 where we had a good fish meal.
28th Jan
A very big day today , up at 6.15am for 7.15 start for the Great Ocean Road tour . It took in many sites including Bells beach where they hold the world surfing championship (a surfers paradise) ,the 12 Apostles and many more sites.Returned to the hotel at 8.45pm, exhausted. so now good night to you all until next time.

17th Jan
Hi  everybody, hope the  weather  has improved ,here is a little cooler.
Today is  our  boozy cruise on the Swan valley river.We  tried so many wines in the morning before arriving at the Sandelford wine estate and more wines to taste.After back on the cruise and yet more wines (what a hard life) ,next we stopped at the Waters Edge winery for a good lunch and guess what more wine tasting.We  even managed to get back to the hotel in one piece.
18th Jan
An easier day today , went around the shops today before our lunch cruise from Perth to Freemantle and back and a walk back to the hotel for a well earned rest.
19th Jan
Today took us to Rottnest island and whilst there we had a coach tour around the island.Then we had our fish lunch at the waterfront.
20th Jan
We flew today from Perth to Adelaide and on the way to the hotel the chauffeur  gave us a tour around the centre of Adelaide.We  are  in middle the Adelaide square mile where the Tour Down Under cycle race is taking place.
21st Jan
We took the city tour which also included the privately owned chocolate factory of Haighs and then onto a seaside resort of Glenelg.In the afternoon we met a friend who is visiting her son here and had drinks.In the evening we found a lovely Italian restaurant Assaggio's which was excellant.
22nd Jan
As if we had not had enough with the boozy cruise we now took a boozy coach trip to the Barossa valley.We went to Kies winery,Langmeil winery and Kaesler and the last one Wolf Blass winery which was very big where they  did 25000 bottles per hour.This is also the area wher Jacobs Creek wines come from.
23rd Jan
Cath's sister Anne came to pick us up from the hotel and took us up mount Lofty for the view over Adelaide and then on coast road to their seaside house to meet Paul her husband. Went to see the cyclists going past before making our way to the Mclaren vale area for guess what more wine tasting stopping at the Chapel Hill winery for lunch sitting out on the terrace with the most beautiful views.Went to a couple more winerys before making our way back to Adelaide.Cath give our thanks to your sister and brother in law for a lovely day.

hi everybody

tour has began we had a good journey to birmingham snow on the fields but roads

clear what a difference it could have been one day later.

O ur flight was one hour late so arrived Dubai 13 Jan 02.00hrs


13 JANUARY

Even managed to get up for breakfast before going to see the Ritz-Carlton
and having a look around, we then after strolling around some shops went back to our hotel. Took a buggy around the very extensive grounds before collapsing around the swimming pool.

14 January

excursion Modern Dubai even going up the new Burj Dubai and just back in time to smarten up for our evening trip on the Dhow evening dinner cruise which was excellent. We could have been longer in Dubai, especially when in the club lounge i could endulge in Tattinger champagne.

15 January

Up early for journey to Perth. arrived once again early morning of the 16th 3am

16 January

went on the hop on - hop off bus trip today temp today was 36c a bit hot tomorrow may be 40c
